Three Idiots is the most awaited movie of Amir Khan this year. It also stars R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor. Kareena Kapoor (Pia) plays the love interest of Rancho or Amir Khan in Three Idiots. The film is loosely based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller 'Five Point Someone - What not to do at IIT'. Though, director Rajkumar Hirani denied the fact. Chetan Bhagat however commented that he was approached and asked permission for the same. The idea of the film is similar but the script is entirely changed.  It’s nice and apt and he liked the script that was penned. 

The story of the film starts with three friends with dismal grade point averages at their college thus influencing their friendship, romance and career choices. Rancho (Amir Khan) is the most irrepressible and influential character in the story who suddenly vanishes. This is when two friends (Madhavan and Sharman Joshi) try to find their friend. Boman Irani stars as the University professor who is oppressive as well as their mentor. He plays a pivotal role in the film as a professor. Kajol makes a special appearance in the film. Mona Singh and Javed Jaffrey are also brought into the cast. Together the entire team is holding high hopes for the film to fare well in the box office.  

Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi have written the screenplay for the film. 3 Idiots is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under his banner of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Productions. Shantanu Moitra has scored the music with lyrics penned by Swanand Kirkire. Rajkumar Hirani is also directing the film for Vidhu Vinod Chopra under his banner. The film, like many other Amir Kahn starrers, releases on the- 25th of December.
