| Renowned Film maker Krishna Shah announced to make a new film on global icon Indira Gandhi. This epic is named as Mother: The Indiara Gandhi Story. The announcement was made on Indira Gandhi’s 92nd birthday o 19th November 2009.
Talks are on that Madhuri Dixit Nene will be playing the late PM Indira Gandhi in this movie. Krishna was on research about this film for about 20 years before he embarked on the project. He was also developing film and television software in Hollywood. After extensive study and interviews with different contemporary military and political stalwarts he was ultimately able to conceptualize the script and announce the film to the press. Shooting will begin in 2010. Till now its being reported that Madhuri has agreed to play Indira on this film. Other major Bollywood actors who are likely to act in the film include Nana Patekar as Jaiprakash Narayan, Dharmendra as Motilal Nehru, and Abhay Deol as Rajiv Gandhi.

Hollywood stars will also be roped in like Tom Hanks as US prez Lyndon B Johnson and Tommy Lee Jones as Richard Nixon. Shooting and production will be largely based on different part of India. It’s a huge project considering the fact that all the big stars will join to make this epic movie a success.
Some foreign locations like the UK, US, and Russia are also chosen for the movie. The movie will be in two parts. The first part will focus on Indira’s journey to become a prime Minister and eventually the Pakistan war in 1971. The second part will follow her journey towards her son’s rise to Ministerial level and his eventual assassination.
Krishna, said, “A whole new generation has grown and matured since Indira’s assassination and it is the role of art to create the connection between people and their history and legacy.” To do justice to the sweep of the late premier’s remarkable life, the story will be a two-part film. |
